“Our study is a welcome addition to the broader understanding of how this drug may help treat erectile dysfunction, particularly in men with chronic heart failure. Our study has also shed light on potential side effects, including sexual dysfunction, which patients and healthcare providers should be aware of,” Dr. S. J. M. Gedren, a urologist at the Cleveland Clinic, told.
However, Dr. D. Albright, a professor of urology at the Cleveland Clinic, said that the study did not show that sildenafil improves the symptoms of heart failure. “Our findings are in line with other studies showing similar results,” he said.
Albright said that he is not sure why Viagra was so popular among men who suffer from heart failure, but he believes it is because men are increasingly choosing to use the drug as a treatment option for their heart failure.
